president's message
We live in a time when access to information abounds. We are awash in facts, instantly aware of ages and subjected to interpretations that are insightful, whimsical, and disingenuous. We are, however, in short supply of wisdom, of information placed in context, of meaning.
Chautauqua, with its singular blend of art, education, religion and recreation, strives to be a resource to those who seek meaning in their lives. We offer the immeasurable gifts of a place and community whose spirit has been cultivated by more than 130 years of earnest pursuit of a more civil expression of community. Chautauqua is an idyllic experience in service to living in a real world.
I ask that you consider investing in the work of this institution, with its capacity to enlighten the young to a life of the arts, to remind the experienced that wonder and appreciation inform wisdom, and to enrich all generations with a faith in the progress of society. However you may choose to give, please know that over 150,000 people each year are touched, some in startling ways, by this great Institution.
